Well i went to the beach on Saturday with a few friends and it was a great time. Swimming, reading books, playing cards and being under the sun. Well when i got home i was a little burnt, didn't really hurt that much so i was all eh it will get better soon.
Then Monday afternoon the hurting started! I got out of the shower and almost immediatly started to experience really bad pain all throughout my burn. It was almost like an itch that would not go away, but instead of just being annoying it was incrediably painful. The pain subsided after about 2 hours which included me breathing very heavy to control the pain, trying to put everything i could imagine on it to stop the pain. I was fine until about midnight when it started again this time on my back. Boy did it hurt. I tryed to sleep it off but about 5 seconds after i would lie down the pain would be so bad that i would have to get up and move around. Around 1:30ish i eventually went up to wake my mom and get her advice on what to do. We ran a fairly cold bath and i went in it quickly this did not help. Eventually i decided i needed to do something, anything so i had my mom take me to the hospital.
This was a very interesting experience as i had never taken myself into the emergency ward. I was quickly interviewed by a triage nurse who asked me what happened, what hurt and took my pulse and bloodpresure. Then the waiting game begins! we sat in the waiting room for 2.5 hours before my name was called, I was then brought into a hallway and was told to wait again. This did confuse me a little as what was the difference betwen me waiting outside and inside...? We waited another hour or so until a lady came and took me into a room with a bed. She proceeded to take a history from me, medical history, alergies, past injuries etc. It was very reminessant of ER (the show). Eventually we decieded that the pain i was feeling was normal so she proscribed some tylenol 3's for me and off i was. I'm still in very bad pain and just hoping it goes away soon. I am normally a very tough guy but this constant pain is a very big drain on me and how long i can fight it i'm not sure. Tylenol doesn't seem to be working well, perhaps it doesn't help burn pains? I'm also taking Benedryl. Well here is hoping it goes away eventually! |

| Speeding ticket |

Well! on my way back from London on the weekend, i got caught speeding for the first time. I was going 156 but the cop was a nice guy and bumped me down to 129.
That still of course ment $150aprox ticket and 3 points against me. After a long argument with my parents and a discussion with a family friend who is a lawyer they convinced me to challange it in court so my insurance does not go up astronomically. Basically if the cop fails to show up the points and charge is dropped, if the cop does show up i just say i came to plead guilty. I do this because there is the possibility that they can bump the ticket back up to 156 which would mean a 500 dollar fine and a suspenssion of my licence (which i obviously don't want to happen). Basically i feel bad about challanging the ticket, after the cop was so nice and i was obviously guilty, but the insurance points makes me see the point of it. Plus i have learned my lesson, the 5-10 minutes that the speeding would have saved me is definatly not worth it. If i do get off though i am making a donation to the Toronto Humaine Society in order to pay my dues to society. |

| The benifit of working at a video store |

Well one of the benifits of working in a video store is i get access to video's before they come out. So since rent comes out on tuesday i got to rent it today!
All i can say is it again didn't disapoint, Even better was the special features, a full documentry about the making of rent. and deleted scenes with all of the numbers that they cut out of the movie. Fully done and produced.
On Tuesday go rent it/buy it and see it! |

| Essay Fun |

So this year after talking with a academic advisor i was told i could take another first year class and still graduate. So obviously i decided this was a good idea, because first year classes mean less stress on Matthew. So for the first essay we had to actually hand in a rough draft. I detest doing this as i prefer to write my essays in one sitting, then do a quick edit. So i do the whole rough draft thing and hand it in. The TA goes through it says ok this is pretty good and here is a list of things i think you should change.
Well i procrastinate as usual and a day before the final essay is due, i say to hell with it and i hand in the same thing i handed in before.
Well today i get the essay back, the TA goes, there where two people in this class who did very well and who importantly listened to my suggestions and integrated them into their essays. He hands mine back and goes, Matt was one of the individuals who carefully listened to my suggestions and used them in his essay. Great job Matt.
Well safe to say i could barely hold in my laughter and i shut my mouth and just nodded to him. No idea how he didn't notice but the moral of the story, take more first year courses, they really are a joke! |

John Spencer, who played Leo McGarry on the West Wing, passed away due to a heart attack at the age of 53. His death is a great loss, as he was a great actor, and brought so much joy into the hearts of all of his fans. He will be greatly missed.

So ya, good news is my store decided that it would be open christmas day so i scored a 10 hour shift that pays double time and a half. That's about 235 bucks for a single day of work... not bad at all i say!
Speaking of work though, it starts to become more and more clear that school is almost over. In about four or five months i'm going to have to find something to do with my life. I'm making arrangements to speak with my area manager (boss of boss) to see what type of opporunties are available.
I should be able to get something seeing as how i've been working there for four years now, i have a great reputation and i've never recieved a single write up. I might have to do assistant manager stuff for a while, but hopefully i'll be able to find something at head office in training or something like that.
Of course this is concidering i would be staying with Rogers. Is this the right thing to do? or should i be looking elsewhere hmmm. |
